Bordering the state of Maine and located on Ossipee Lake, Freedom has the distinct reputation as a popular spot for vacation homes, resorts, campsites, and year-round residences in Carroll County, New Hampshire. Ideally situated between two of the most popular attractions in New Hampshire, the lakes region and the White Mountains, the town of Freedom has a great deal to offer in its quaint lifestyle and vacation adventures as well as its annual "Freedom Old Home Week," which entails week long festivities.
Freedom offers you many styles of homes, such as log homes, cabins, and homes with acreage. The town has been the setting for a couple of stories, including the children's fantasy book The Enormous Egg, first published in 1956 but reissued years later (ISBN 0-316-11920-2). Freedom was also the setting for a 2001 broadcast of This American Life entitled The House at Loon Lake. That episode depicted an abandoned house explored by young boys in town for summer camp at Loon Lake.
