Tamworth is just north of Ossipee and east of Effingham off White Mountain Highway (Rt. 16) and is the home of White Lake State Park and the Barnstormers Theatre. Barnstormers is hailed as the oldest continuously running professional theatre in the state. Tamworth has a lot to offer for visitors year round, and it's a fantastic place to enjoy the "laid back" lifestyle.
Small business and self-employment are the prominent sources of work within the town. Centrally located, many commute in almost every direction for employment and enjoy the lower housing costs. Like many other towns in the Mount Washington Valley, Tamworth houses a large percentage of vacation homeowners who are not full-time residents. Tamworth has its share of affordable homes, but it also has many exceptional properties in the luxury real estate category with stunning views of local Mt. Chocorua and many 4,000 foot peaks in the Sandwich Range.
